JOB SUMMARY:   The Finance Assistant provides support to the Finance Department

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

  • Enter cash receipts
  • Enter journal entries
  • Reconcile bank accounts for all SHC-NM entities
  • Collect and enter all employee timesheets
  • Enter new employees in MIP
  • Print MIP reports
  • Assist Controller in compiling payroll files per pay dates
  • Finance filing – Vendor files, Accounts payable, Cash receipts
  • Pull and copy Invoices as needed for audits
  • Hand deliver payments and deposits as needed to bank
  • Maintain I-9 Binder
  • Maintain petty cash account
  • Complete electronic bank deposits
  • Assist Finance Department with other administrative duties

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Associates degree in accounting, business or office management preferred
  • Experience in working in a non-profit organization

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, ETC:

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent customer service
  • Excellent organizational skills with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of community resources related to homelessness, mental illness and housing
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office products, Internet and Database management
  • Ability to drive - valid driver’s license and insurance required
