Kalie & Brandon Shingle helped deliver to SHC

Women from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from the Albuquerque west side came together on Saturday, February 24, 2018 for their annual Women’s Conference. As they came, they brought with them Welcome Baskets for the Supportive Housing Coalition of New Mexico (SHC-NM). Throughout the month of February, the women in each of the ten wards or congregational units donated and assembled baskets to benefit previously homeless individuals who would now be moving into a home.  Planners of the event found this service opportunity on the website www.JustServe.org.

Taylor Scott, SHC-NM AmeriCorps VISTA Volunteer, was on hand to accept the donations of 23 filled and overflowing laundry baskets, along with several boxes of additional items and 18 new pillows. A note welcoming the recipient to their new home and wishing them luck was also included in the baskets. Each laundry basket included items such as a blanket, a shower curtain, towels, laundry detergent, dish soap, paper towels, pillowcases, soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, toothpaste, toilet paper, cleaning product, kitchen sponges, etc. The baskets were then delivered to the SHC-NM offices downtown.
